Psychologist in Oradea – Leadership and Personal Development in International Academic Projects | EU GREEN

Taking part in international academic projects offers valuable opportunities for personal and professional development. The EU GREEN European Alliance has brought together academics and students from nine European universities in an initiative dedicated to inclusion, sustainability and academic collaboration.

Personal and professional development often takes place beyond the lecture theatres and traditional academic experiences. Sometimes, the most valuable lessons are those that arise when people from different backgrounds choose to build together, collaborate and learn from one another.

The University of Oradea hosted the EU GREEN European Alliance meeting, bringing together nearly 60 academics and representatives from nine European universities within the working groups ‘Sustainable Societies and Economies’ and ‘Access, Diversity and Inclusion’, dedicated to sustainable development, diversity and inclusion.

Beyond the academic aspect of the event, the experience provided a valuable opportunity to develop leadership, communication and intercultural collaboration skills.

Taking part in such projects offers the chance to develop essential skills such as:

  • leadership and the coordination of group activities;

  • effective communication in multicultural contexts;

  • organising and managing academic and educational activities;

  • adaptability and problem-solving in dynamic contexts;

  • interdisciplinary and international collaboration;

  • developing teamwork skills and facilitating interactions between participants.

I had the privilege of actively contributing to the smooth running of this event through organisational and coordination tasks, facilitating communication amongst participants and supporting the teams involved during the working sessions. At the same time, the experience gave me the opportunity to interact with participants from different cultural and professional backgrounds and to observe just how important it is to create academic spaces based on inclusion, respect and genuine collaboration.

I believe that personal and professional development is not limited to the accumulation of theoretical knowledge. Leadership, emotional intelligence, the ability to communicate effectively and a willingness to learn continuously are skills that are just as important for any professional.

Projects such as this remind us that education transcends the boundaries of a single university or a single country. It is about people who choose to build together and contribute to the development of more inclusive, sustainable and stronger academic communities.

I am grateful for the opportunity to take part in this experience and for all the professional and personal lessons it has taught me.
